About The Nisbet Modern Tartan
Clan Nisbet is a Lowland Scottish clan with historic roots in Berwickshire, in the Scottish Borders. The name is territorial in origin, taken from the lands of Nisbet near Duns, and can be traced back to the 12th century.
The family gained prominence through loyal service to the Scottish crown and involvement in regional governance. The Nisbet family's most notable stronghold was Nisbet House, a fine 17th-century mansion that still stands today.
While Clan Nisbet was not among the largest or most warlike clans, they were respected landowners and scholars.
