About The Kincaid Ancient Tartan
Clan Kincaid is a historic Scottish clan with roots in the Lennox district of Stirlingshire, just north of Glasgow. The name is believed to come from the Gaelic ceann cÃÂ idhe, meaning "head of the pass" or "steep place," likely referring to the clan's early territory near the Campsie Fells.
The Kincaids were prominent landholders as early as the 13th century and gained greater recognition for their loyalty to the Crown during the Wars of Scottish Independence and later conflicts.
Though relatively small in number, the Kincaid name has spread internationally, particularly to North America, where many Kincaids settled after the 17th century.
