About The Drummond Grey Tartan
Clan Drummond is a distinguished Highland clan with royal ties and a long-standing legacy in Scottish history. The name is believed to come from the Gaelic "dromainn" meaning "ridge," referring to the clan's original lands near Drymen in Stirlingshire.
The Drummonds rose to prominence in the 14th century when Annabella Drummond married Robert III of Scotland, becoming Queen Consort and mother of James I. From then on, the Drummonds were closely linked with the Scottish royal house.
Loyal supporters of the crown, they were rewarded with titles, including the Earldom of Perth. Despite periods of political upheaval - including support for the Jacobite cause - the family remained influential in both Scottish and European affairs.
