About The Cameron of Erracht Muted Tartan
In the Highlands, Cameron is usually a nickname from Gaelic cam 'crooked, bent' + sron 'nose'. In the Lowlands it is also a habitational name from any of various places called Cameron, especially in Fife.
The Highland Clan Cameron has been associated with lands in Lochaber since the 15th century if not earlier, and with Lochiel since 1528. The earliest recorded chief is Donal Cam Shron Dhu 'Black Donald Wry Nose', in 1411.
