About The Murray of Tullibardine Ancient Tartan

Clan Murray is one of the most prominent and noble Scottish clans, with roots tracing back to the 12th century. The name derives from the region of Moray in northeastern Scotland, and the clan has long been associated with lands in Perthshire, Atholl, and beyond.

The Murrays rose to considerable influence through loyal service to the Scottish crown and extensive landholdings. The most distinguished branch is the Murrays of Atholl, whose chief holds the title Duke of Atholl, one of the few private individuals in the UK still allowed to maintain a private army, the Atholl Highlanders.

Clan Murray was heavily involved in many key moments in Scottish history, including the Wars of Independence and the Jacobite risings.
