About The Malcolm Ancient Tartan
Clan Malcolm, also known historically as Clan MacCallum, is a Highland Scottish clan rooted in Argyll, particularly around Loch Fyne. The name derives from the Gaelic "Mac Mhaol Chaluim", meaning "son of the disciple of Columba," linking the clan to early Christian traditions and Saint Columba himself.
While "MacCallum" was the earlier form of the name, the chief's family adopted "Malcolm" in the 18th century, and both names are now recognized under the same clan.
The seat of the Clan Malcolm chiefs is Poltalloch House, and the family has a long tradition of military and public service in Scotland and abroad.
