MacLachlan Weathered

About The MacLachlan Weathered Tartan

Clan MacLachlan is an ancient Highland clan with roots tracing back over a thousand years, based historically in Argyll, on the shores of Loch Fyne. The name comes from the Gaelic "MacLachlainn", meaning "son of Lachlan," with Lachlan itself thought to derive from "Lochlann," an old Gaelic word for Norway, reflecting Norse influence in early Scottish history.

The MacLachlans are traditionally descended from the royal Cenel nGabrain line of Dal Riata and have held their ancestral seat at Castle Lachlan since the 13th century. The clan has a proud history, including loyalty to the Jacobite cause during the risings of the 17th and 18th centuries, where they fought alongside other West Highland clans.
