About The MacIntyre Hunting Ancient Tartan
Clan MacIntyre is a historic Highland clan with roots in Argyll, especially around Glen Noe on the shores of Loch Etive. The name comes from the Gaelic "Mac an t-Saoir", meaning "son of the carpenter." This reflects a traditional belief that the clan's founder was a skilled craftsman , possibly linked to the builders of early Scottish Christian churches.
According to legend, the MacIntyres migrated from the Hebrides to the mainland around the 13th century and became hereditary foresters and bards to the powerful Clan Campbell. Though smaller in number, the MacIntyres were respected for their loyalty, cultural contributions, and quiet strength.
