About The MacCallum Modern Tartan
Clan MacCallum is a Highland Scottish clan with origins in Argyll, particularly around Loch Fyne. The name MacCallum comes from the Gaelic "Mac Chaluim", meaning "son of Columba," referring to devotion to Saint Columba, the early Christian missionary who played a central role in bringing Christianity to Scotland.
By the 18th century, the names MacCallum and Malcolm had become closely associated, and many historians consider Clan Malcolm and Clan MacCallum to be essentially the same family. The chief's title is now officially styled as Chief of the Name Malcolm, although both surnames are represented.
