About The MacAlpine Modern Tartan

Clan MacAlpine is one of the most ancient of all Scottish clans, traditionally believed to descend from King Alpin, the 9th-century father of Kenneth MacAlpin, the first King of Scots. Although not a clan in the feudal sense with a chiefly line and territory, the MacAlpine name holds powerful symbolic importance as it links to the very roots of the Scottish monarchy.

The name MacAlpine comes from the Gaelic "Mac Ailpein", meaning "son of Alpin. " While the clan does not have a known chief and is considered an armigerous clan, it is historically significant and revered in Scottish tradition.
