About The MacAlister Modern Tartan
Clan MacAlister is a proud Highland clan descending from the mighty Clan Donald (MacDonald), one of the largest and most powerful clans in Scottish history. The name MacAlister comes from the Gaelic "Mac Alasdair", meaning "son of Alasdair," referring to Alasdair Mor, a son of Donald of Islay, the progenitor of the MacDonalds. This makes the MacAlisters a direct branch of Clan Donald.
Known for their loyalty, independence, and martial skill, the MacAlisters were involved in many of the key conflicts in Highland history.
