About The Kennedy Ancient Tartan
Clan Kennedy is a proud and noble Scottish clan with roots in the southwest of Scotland, particularly in Carrick, a district of modern-day Ayrshire.
The Kennedys claim descent from the Celtic lords of Galloway and held extensive lands in the region. By the 15th century, they had risen to prominence as powerful nobles, with the title Earls of Cassillis being granted to the family. Their historic seat was the impressive Culzean Castle, perched on the cliffs overlooking the Firth of Clyde - now a popular heritage site.
