About The Fitzpatrick Tartan
Clan Fitzpatrick, originally known as the Mac Giolla Phadraig clan, is a historic Irish family with deep roots in the kingdom of Ossory, covering parts of present-day Counties Laois and Kilkenny.
The Fitzpatricks are descendants of the medieval Gaelic kings of Ossory and adopted the Norman-style surname "Fitzpatrick," meaning "son of Patrick," during the 16th century to anglicize their Gaelic heritage.
