About The Colquhoun Ancient Tartan

The Colquhoun clan (pronounced "Ca-hoon") hails from the banks of Loch Lomond in Dunbartonshire, where the family held lands from the 13th century. The name comes from the lands of Colquhoun near Luss, which were granted to the family by King Alexander II.

The clan was known for its fierce loyalty and had a long-standing rivalry with the MacGregors, culminating in the infamous battle of Glen Fruin in 1603. The Colquhouns were later granted a baronetcy and became influential landowners, with their seat at Rossdhu House.
