Munro Weathered Tartan
From the Highlands of Scotland
About The Munro Weathered Tartan
Clan Munro is a proud Highland Scottish clan originating from Easter Ross in the northern Highlands. The name is thought to come from the Gaelic "Rothach", meaning "man from the River Roe" in Derry, Ireland, pointing to an early Irish origin before settling in Scotland.
From the 12th century onward, the Munros became powerful landholders and loyal supporters of the Scottish crown. The clan was famed for its military service, providing many soldiers to the Scottish and later British armies.
One of the most notable figures was General Sir Hector Munro, who led campaigns in India during the 18th century. The Munros held Foulis Castle as their ancestral seat for centuries.
