The Great Kilt (also known as Feileadh Mor), was the original form of the modern-day kilt we know today. Dating back to the 16th century, this full-length garment was worn as clothing and protection against harsh weather conditions.

Traditionally, the Great Kilt was a single, untailored length of wool fabric that was gathered and belted at the waist (creating its distinctive pleated look), and secured at the shoulder with a large brooch (or fly plaid brooch as we know them today). While you can purchase untailored fabric on its own to recreate this tradition, ordering a 'pre-made' Great Kilt takes a lot of the hassle out of the process for you!

'Cheater pleats' are included to create a consistent look with each wear, and save a lot of time and effort. Our Great Kilts also include large belt loops to fit a standard kilt belt, another 'cheat' to make the wearing of this garment a lot easier for you.

It's very easy to measure for a kilt, just hover over the 'Help?' button under each measurement required and follow the instructions.
